Days of the Week Template

A template to use when learning and ordering the days of the week.

Ideal to use in the classroom when learning to identify, read and order the days of the week.

How to use this resource

  1. Download and print the caterpillar template and the days of the week cut-out circles (one per student).
  2. Read the story of The Hungry Caterpillar. Discuss what the caterpillar does on each day.
  3. As a class, discuss the days of the week and their order.
  4. Ask the children to cut out the days of the week circles and to glue them in the correct order on to the template.
  5. What comes next?  Discuss proper nouns and why weekday names always start with a capital letter.

  • To ensure that the activity is carried out safely, teachers can remind children to use scissors carefully when cutting paper, to avoid cutting paper with overly sharp edges, as well as to clean up the paper scraps promptly after the activity to avoid inhalation or injury to the eyes. Wearing protective eyewear is recommended if possible to ensure the safety of the activity.
