My school has recently adopted Words Their Way to guide the Spelling and Phonics instruction across the school.
I am a trainer/consultant for Words Their Way and have been for the past 6 years. I’ve coached teachers to implement the program into every grade level (K-6) and I have seen huge success! Words Their Way is the only way to teach spelling and it doesn’t have to be difficult.
I have a year 2 class on the Gold Coast. We tested our kids at the start of the year and again just before report cards went home and EVERY child in my class went up 2 or more levels – very cool. I am changing things a bit again this term to get the WTW activities more as a focus with our spelling program. I will let you know how it works out.
I have recently purchased the orange WTW book from thebookdepository.com.uk and paid about $26.00 (Australian). The company deliver free world wide so it is a great place to look for any books. The WTW books were out of stock recently but it was only for a few days. The Book Depository is always my first port of call when chasing a particular book, I have always found it cheaper than anywhere else.
My school is in Logan Queensland been using Words Their Way for a long time I find some of it quite hard do you know where I can purchase the books cheaply?
My school is in Georgia and we have successfully been using it for about 4 years. The author has other books for reading, which are helpful also.
My school has become very interested in implementing the Words Their Way concept. We thought the diagnostic assessments would give us a good starting point for our students. May I ask, how long has your school been using WTW?, Does every teacher make their own resources?, Have you had any inservice/guidance with the implementation?, and have you seen any results?.
I am an experienced Year 1 teacher and I have been using WTW for about four years. I love it. It is by far the best spelling program I have tried. I’ve made it very user friendly – using a task board with varied and interesting tasks, including one day for testing (one group is tested per day) I feel that WTW is more ieffectively taught if you have an EA, support teacher or parental help for group activities.

I highly recommend this program to any teacher who has been on the looking for a good spelling program.
