Celebrating International Friendship Day in K-3!

Did you know there’s a pretty exciting event happening this week? That’s right, on July 30th it’s International Friendship Day!

What is International Friendship Day?

International Day of Friendship has been set up by the United Nations to promote solidarity and unity across the world. To remind people that, despite all the crises and challenges that many people face in life, we should be striving for a better world where all are united for the greater good. What better way to unite than in friendship?

If people are showing kindness, friendship and acceptance, the world will be a better place!

How Can We Celebrate Friendship in K-3?

Celebrating friendship with our little ones is easy! Children love the joy of playing with friends, and exploring what it means to be a good friend.

Here are some ideas on how to celebrate International Friendship Day with your young children:

  • Brainstorm what a good friend looks like and draw a picture to match.
  • Role play how a good friend behaves in certain situations.
  • Task your children with making one new friend, and sitting with them at lunchtime.
  • Put together a Random Acts of Kindness wall, where your students contribute one kind thing that a friend has done for them each day!
